As the popularity of bows grow so does our collections. As a bow maker my little girl gets new bows all the time so our personal collection is quite large. The other day while cleaning I had gathered a small pile of hair items just from our table. It was then that I decided to make a bow holder to hang on our wall. This is a simple and cheap holder that anyone can make for personal use or gifts.
What you will need:
Hot glue gun and glue stick
Siccors
Paper
Picture frame
Lighter
Ribbon
Ruler if you want to make it perfect :)
First you will want to take the glass out of the picture frame and store it somewhere safe. Next you will want to cut the paper to fit the frame.
Once you have your paper cut to size you will want to cut ribbon to fit inside the frame. When you do this make sure you cut the ribbon at least an inch longer the the frame back. This is to allow the ribbon to fold over to the back side to be glued down.
Now that you have the ribbon cut glue the paper to the inside of the frame back. Flip it over so you are looking at the back of the frame back. If you like you can eye this part or measure. Mark where you would like the ribbons to go. First you will do the top. Add a dab of hot glue and press the ribbon down. Do this for all of the strands. Next you will flip the ribbon over so it is now on the side with the paper. You should be seeing the bottom of the ribbons sticking out. You will now add dabs of hot glue to the bottom of the board and glue down each strand. You should now be seeing something like the picture below.
Place the back into the frame and secure it with the tabs. You should now see something like the picture below. You can stop here if you want to have this holder be a table top holder. If you would like to have this hanging we have a little more work to do. :)
Alright, to make this a hanging holder you will want to cut two strands of ribbon the same size. You will heat seal the ends of the ribbon like before. Next you will glue a ribbon on each end of the back and then tie them together on the top.
Now that we have the hanging part on our holder we can add ribbon to the bottom to add more bows and headbands. To hang bows cut ribbon as long as you would like, heat seal and hot glue to the back of the frame. If you would like to hang head bands it will take a little more work. First cut the ribbon a few inches longer then the ones used to hold the bows. We will then move down a few inches on the ribbon to where you would like the first head band spot to be. Take the back of the ribbon and add a dab of hot glue. Then bring the back of the ribbon up to form a loop and press.
Now cut a small piece of ribbon in the same color and heat seal both ends. This piece will be triple the width of the ribbon being used. You will press the loop back to the ribbon and add a dab of hot glue to the front. Place the small ribbon centred here. Flip over add a dab of glue and fold one side of the small ribbon over and then repeat.
You now have created a loop for the head band. Repeat these steps until you have enough loops.
Yay!! We have created the picture frame holder, added a hanging ribbon, added ribbons for bows and head bands.
ENJOY!!!
